Silvia Monti, an Italian film actress born Silvia Cornacchia, died on Aug. 12, 2026, at 80, la Repubblica reported.
Monti made her screen debut in Alberto Lattuada’s Fräulein Doktor in 1969. That year, she played Sofia in Gérard Oury’s Il cervello (released in English as The Brain), alongside David Niven, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Eli Wallach and Bourvil.
In 1971, Monti played Frank’s daughter in Lucio Fulci’s thriller Una lucertola con la pelle di donna (released in English as A Lizard in a Woman’s Skin). The film follows a woman whose dream of a neighbor’s murder appears to become reality.
In Alberto Sordi’s 1974 comedy Finché c’è guerra c’è speranza, Monti played Silvia, the wife of arms dealer Pietro Chiocca. The film follows the family as they live in luxury through his arms dealings and confront the consequences of that business. After the film, Monti left acting in 1974 and withdrew from public life to devote herself to her family.
