Moustafa Reyadh

Moustafa Reyadh, the Egyptian footballer best known as a prolific striker for Tersana and a standout at the Tokyo 1964 Olympics, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. He was 84. Reports said he died after a struggle with illness, after being hospitalized and later returning home.

Reyadh was born on April 5, 1941, and made his first-team debut for Tersana in the 1959–60 season. He became one of the club’s defining forwards, helping Tersana win the Egyptian Premier League title in 1962–63 and the Egyptian Cup in 1964–65 and 1966–67. Individually, he won the league’s top-scorer award twice, in 1961–62 and 1963–64.

His most widely cited international moment came at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Reyadh scored eight goals and was described as second on the tournament’s scoring list, a tally that remains central to his reputation with the Egypt national team. For many supporters, that Olympic run is the clearest measure of how reliably he could decide matches with finishing.

After his playing career, he continued to serve Tersana by working in the club’s youth sector, passing on his experience to younger players.

Reyadh’s legacy is closely tied to his record goal-scoring impact for Tersana and to his enduring place in Egypt’s Olympic football history, highlighted by those eight goals in Tokyo that still anchor his name in the national game’s major tournaments.
