Alexander Danilin, a Russian psychotherapist, psychiatrist and addiction specialist known for hosting the Radio Rossii program Silver Threads, died Aug. 15, 2026, at 66, B17 reported.
Danilin completed medical school and a psychiatry internship in 1983. In 1987, he became head of a medical and social rehabilitation department at a large Moscow clinic.
In 2003, Danilin began hosting Silver Threads on Radio Rossii. The program brought discussions of psychotherapy, self-understanding and addiction to a broad radio audience. In 2004, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported that his book LSD was seized for examination during a Russian Federal Drug Control Service campaign involving books about drugs. Danilin announced the end of Silver Threads Aug. 11, 2016, after a 13-year run.
Danilin later worked as a psychotherapist at Moscow psychiatric dispensary No. 23 and discussed group work with people with cancer.
In 2018, he published Psychotherapy in Questions and Answers: A Journey into the Deep World of the Soul, addressing psychology and psychotherapy for professionals and general readers.
