Vidi Aldiano, the singer-songwriter best known for his 2008 debut album Pelangi di Malam Hari and the song “Nuansa Bening,” died March 7, 2026, at 35. He died of kidney cancer.
Born Oxavia Aldiano in Jakarta on March 29, 1990, he first came to public notice in 2006, when he reached the top 100 in a singing talent competition. He made his professional debut two years later with Pelangi di Malam Hari, and “Nuansa Bening” became the song most closely associated with his breakthrough.
He won the 2009 Anugerah Musik Indonesia award for best pop male solo artist as his audience widened beyond that first release.
Aldiano lived with stage 3 kidney cancer after being diagnosed in 2019 and underwent the removal of one kidney. In June 2025, he said scans showed the cancer was growing quickly and that he was traveling repeatedly to Penang, Malaysia, for treatment.
He later added Yang Kedua, Persona and Senandika to his catalog. Together, his releases sold 250,000 physical copies, turning the attention won by Pelangi di Malam Hari into a broader commercial run.
