Vedrana Rudan, a Croatian novelist, journalist and social commentator whose books included Uho, grlo, nož, died Aug. 18, 2026, at 76, Vijesti reported, citing sources close to her.

Rudan first worked as a teacher and tourist guide before moving into journalism as a newspaper writer and radio editor. She became a longtime columnist for the Croatian weekly Nacional and published the column collection Zašto psujem.

Rudan published her debut novel, Uho, grlo, nož, in the early 2000s. It became a bestseller in Croatia and Serbia, was translated into several languages and inspired stage productions in Belgrade and Zagreb. By 2015, she had published nine books, some translated into eight languages and adapted for the stage in six countries.

Her 2019 autobiography, Ples oko sunca, was her 14th book. In an interview with Croatian Radio Rijeka, Rudan called it her most successful book.
