Mirosław Krawczyk, a longtime stage actor with Teatr Wybrzeże in Gdańsk whose screen credits included the film Disco Polo, died Feb. 21, 2026. He was 72. His cause of death was not disclosed.

Krawczyk was born Dec. 7, 1953, in Olkusz. After graduating from the Kraków theatre school (PWST), he began his professional career at Teatr Śląski in Katowice.

He made his stage debut in 1978 in Damy i huzary at Teatr Śląski, where he worked until 1986. That year he moved to Gdańsk and became closely identified with Teatr Wybrzeże, joining the company and building a decades-long body of work in classical and contemporary productions.

At Teatr Wybrzeże, his roles spanned plays such as Balladyna, Hamlet, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Karmaniola, czyli od Sasa do Lasa and Mary Page Marlowe. His film work included Czarny czwartek. Janek Wiśniewski padł and Disco Polo (2015), and he appeared in TV series such as Lekarze, Ojciec Mateusz and Na Wspólnej.

Teatr Wybrzeże announced his death Saturday and remembered him as someone who “enchanted with sincerity” on stage and as a colleague with a “big heart.” An anecdote recalled about his career said he suffered an extensive heart attack during a performance of Marat/Sade and was carried to an ambulance as colleagues finished the show.
