Iosif Szakács, a Romanian footballer and manager who led Dinamo București to its first domestic cup title, died Feb. 10, 2026. He was 92.

A member of the Hungarian ethnic community, Szakács grew up in Șimleu Silvaniei before joining Flamura Roșie Arad. He won the Romanian league title with the club in 1954 and the Cupa României in 1953.

His career reached a high point during the 1959 Cupa României final while playing for Dinamo București. Szakács scored three goals in a 4–0 victory against CSM Baia Mare, securing the first Cupa României trophy in the club's history.

The striker frequently played alongside his brother, Ludovic, at several clubs including Dinamo Brașov and Crișana Oradea. He concluded his playing career with Olimpia Oradea, where he won a Divizia C title in 1967.
